When it comes to caring for their little girl’s hair, many parents aren’t sure if they are ‘doing it right.’ Below are 5 easy ways to care for your toddler daughter’s hair that will ensure that it looks and feels wonderfully soft and silky.

#1 – Don’t Wash her Hair Every Day

This may sound counterintuitive, but in most cases, your toddler daughter’s hair should only be washed every 2 – 3 days, as this will prevent the hair and scalp from drying out too much. When washing her hair, apply a small amount of shampoo and gently massage it through her hair, using soft, circular motions. Always ensure that lukewarm water is used, as this will not only prevent her scalp from being scalded; it will also prevent her hair from being damaged. If there are any long pieces of hair, use 1 or 2 small snap baby girl hair clips to pin them out of her eyes until it is dry.

#2 – Dry and Style Carefully

When drying your toddler daughter’s hair, it should be done so as carefully as possible to prevent pulling and possible hair breakage. Using a soft cotton towel, pat the hair gently to remove as much water as possible – don’t rub it, as this could cause some of the hair to fall out – not to mention be extremely uncomfortable as well. Although it is not always recommended to use hair dryers on toddlers’ hair, it may sometimes be necessary. Always use the coolest possible setting to prevent scalding, and use a soft brush to style it afterwards.

#3 – Avoid Excessive Use of Chemical Hair Care Products

Many parents make the mistake of trying to mimic adult hairstyles on their toddler daughters. However, if this involves the use of numerous styling gels and other chemical-based products, they could end up damaging the hair and causing scalp irritation as well. In most cases, all that will be needed to make your daughter’s hair look as cute as possible is a gentle brush and the use of one or two accessories such as a heart-embellished baby girl headband or some cute baby girl hair clips. Black Tutu

#4 – Use Dedicated Little Girl Hair Accessories

Although there are many funky hair accessories on the market for older girls, these are not normally suitable for use in toddler girls’ hair because they have been designed to hold or control larger volumes of hair than what most toddlers have. Instead, opt for dedicated baby girl headband accessories or even a few sparkly baby girl hair clips. These are smaller than other accessories, which mean that they will stay in the hair and not be uncomfortable at all.

#5 – Use a Child-friendly Hair Salon

Eventually, the time will come when your daughter’s hair needs to be trimmed. Many toddlers are somewhat apprehensive when it comes to visiting the salon for the first time, so it is a good idea to prepare them beforehand by letting them know what will happen there. Offering her an such as new baby headbands or baby girl hair clips in exchange for ‘being a good girl’ can help ensure that she looks forward to her next salon visit.
